How to install Windows 8 from DVD on a Macbook Pro 5,5 (mid 2009 or 2010)

win8_macbookTo install Windows 8 from DVD on a Macbook Pro 5,5 (mid 2009 or mid 2010) you need to edit the info.plist file from Bootcamp.

To edit the file, open terminal and type:

sudo vi /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app/Contents/Info.plist

It will ask for your password.
Go to the line where it says:

Win7OnlyModels

MacBook7,1
MacBookAir3,2
MacPro2,1
MacbookPro5,5
Macmini4,1
iMac10,1

And remove the line: Macbook Pro5,5
You can delete the whole line with dd in VI
Save and quit with ZZ

Start Bootcamp and install Windows 8 from DVD 😀

    Hi, nice tips !
I also change the .plist to allow my laptop to crate a bootable usb key of W8.

But when I try to download the extra stuffs for windows (drivers and all) it says that my computer can only get those for W7 ? how to get the W8 ones ??
    Any ideas ?
