Coming soon

2. Install OpenElec on the Raspberry Pi 2

Download from here; use the right one! ARMv7 Builds – RPi2 ARMv7 quad core models (Model B 1024MB)
OpenElec download
Unpack the .tar file and for linux and mac use dd

sudo dd if=/location of the image/OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.8.img of=/dev/disk# bs=4m

3. Connect the leds

The leds have the same connection, they just moved up or depending on your view down a bit.

4. Install Hyperion on OSMC

It’s updated so we now need libprotobuf9 instead of 7, the other modules are the same as in my other guide. Thanks to Marios Chatzipavlis, I indeed forgot the sudo part

sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get install git libqtcore4 libqtgui4 libqt4-network libusb-1.0-0 libprotobuf9 ca-certificates

Download Hyperion:

wget -N https://raw.github.com/tvdzwan/hyperion/master/bin/install_hyperion.sh

This may fail when your systemtime is not correct! check time with:

date

Install with:

sh ./install_hyperion.sh

You can use the same/current hyperion.config.json file

Enable gpio’s:

vi /boot/config.txt

And add the following line, or change it to on depends on whats in there

dtparam=spi=on

Reboot and done

5. Install Hyperion on OpenElec

There is no apt-get in OpenElec, when logging in with ssh, you’re default root, so no need to sudo.

Install hyperion with:

curl -L --output install_hyperion.sh --get https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tvdzwan/hyperion/master/bin/install_hyperion.sh && sh ./install_hyperion.sh

Config file is located here:

vi /storage/.config/hyperion.config.json

Change the following line in the hyperion.config.json file

“effects” :
{
“paths” :
[
“/opt/hyperion/effects”
]
},

to

“effects” :
{
“paths” :
[
“/storage/hyperion/effects”
]
},

Enable spi with:

Enable write on /flash

mount -o remount,rw /flash

Open the config.txt file

vi /flash/config.txt

Add the following somewhere on the top

dtparam=spi=on

Save the file with ZZ

Just reboot and you’re done!

reboot

Done!
